It is an unfortunate time in the cannabis industry but really it is nothing new. Cannabis growers, retailers, logistics companies and many others have faced heavy taxes, stringent regulations and lack of services that are afforded to any other legitimate company.  This is the only industry I feel is working towards the same goal, and no it is ...

More businesses are mellowing out over hiring pot smokers - Cannabis News

Marijuana testing — a fixture at large American employers for at least 30 years — excludes too many potential workers, experts say, at a time when filling jobs is more challenging than it’s been in nearly two decades.

FPI Management, a property company in California, wants to hire dozens of people. Factories from New Hampshire to Michigan need workers. Hotels in Las Vegas are desperate to fill jobs.

Those employers and many others are quietly taking what once would have been a radical step: They’re dropping marijuana from the drug tests they require of prospective employees.

Is microdosing the future of cannabis? - Cannabis news

Dispensaries are selling more low THC products and strains than ever before.

As weed is legalized and becomes more mainstream, cannabis products seem to be getting “weaker” rather than stronger.

This trend toward microdosing and low-THC products is, in part, to appeal to a wider audience of new and inexperienced users.

But, it’s also helping veteran stoners stay medicated and productive.

California Insurance Commissioner Asks Insurers to Serve Canna-Businesses - Cannabis News

California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones sent a letter last week to the state’s insurers urging them to offer insurance products for the legal cannabis industry.

In the letter, Jones indicated that he would “not object to proposed rates for the industry that have a rational basis.”

“The mission of the California Department of Insurance is ‘Insurance Protection for All Californians,’" he said.

"We work with the insurance industry to promote a healthy insurance market that offers insurance products to meet the ever-changing needs of Californians and California businesses."

Michigan: State wants to help marijuana businesses find an alternative to banks - Cannabis News

The state is looking for ways to help medical marijuana businesses that are having trouble finding a bank or a credit union.

Rick Johnson chairs the state medical marijuana licensing board.

He says most financial institutions won’t work with marijuana-related businesses because the drug remains illegal at the federal level.

He says that means the businesses don’t have checking accounts and can’t easily handle electronic transfers.

The U.S. legal cannabis industry is on track to hit $25 billion by 2025, according to the latest forecast from cannabis analytics firm New Frontier Data.

That $25 billion should be split equally between medical and recreational cannabis, New Frontier officials said.

What we learned at the World Medical Cannabis Conference and Expo in Pittsburgh - Cannabis News

The conference is part pharmaceutical trade show and part pow-wow for patient advocates and the industry’s legal advocates, as well.

At no point in American history has marijuana been this popular.

Poll after poll shows that public perceptions about the drug continue to soften while usage of the drug continues to rise.

More states are legalizing it outright or launching medical marijuana programs like the nascent one currently underway in Pennsylvania.

Celebs are jumping on the marijuana brand wagon - Cannabis News

"When a celebrity who doesn't fit the stereotype [of a pot smoker] gets into promoting cannabis, it expands the conceptual footprint that cannabis has in the minds of current and potential consumers."

It seems only natural that Tommy Chong, of the stoner comedy duo Cheech and Chong, would have his own marijuana brand.

"I'm the most recognizable pot head, probably, in the world," Chong told CNNMoney.

Chong lends his name to Chong's Choice, a marijuana brand that's available in six states: Arizona, where medical marijuana is legal, along with California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and Nevada, where recreational marijuana is legal, too.

And he should know. His company calls itself the "fastest growing employment marketplace" and claims to have "helped over 1 million businesses and 100 million job seekers find their next perfect match."

"Twenty-nine states have legalized marijuana. There's 445% job growth in job listings in the category year over year," he said at a conference hosted by U.S. News & World Report on Friday.

Blue Moon's Creator is Making a Marijuana-Infused Beer - Cannabis News

Keith Villa, the man who created the recipe for the popular Blue Moon beer, has a new project: a marijuana-infused beer made by his new brewing company.

Instead of being brewed with alcohol, the beer will be infused with marijuana that is designed to mimic the effects of drinking a traditional beer.

For example, people who drink three of the marijuana-infused beers would, in theory, feel the same effect as if they had consumed three traditional beers.

Canada: Experimental pot lab sprouting cannabis-infused drinks, new edibles

“This is probably the most sophisticated cannabis lab in Canada,” said scientific adviser Ben Geiling.

Nestled inside Canopy Growth Corp.’s sprawling marijuana facility outside Ottawa is a laboratory where technicians in white lab coats and hair nets bustle about, pipetting fluids into glassware as machinery hums and coloured, three-dimensional graphs flash on nearby screens.

The lab is unlike any other in the 15,600-square-metre facility, a so-called dealers licence area, which allows the company to experiment with materials and products that are not otherwise legal in Canada — or even the rest of the facility.
