The Werc Shop Announces Its Latest Innovation in Vaping Technology

LOS ANGELES, California, Feb. 15, 2019 – PRESS RELEASE – The Werc Shop, LLC (TWS), a cannabis manufacturing and formulation technology company, was recently granted a patent pertaining to diluents and enhancers used in vape products by the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). This patent specifically deals with the use of phytol and related compounds in vape formulations as a Native? diluting agent.

On the heels of this patent, TWS has also announced the introduction of Nexus 2.0—a formulation created specifically for cannabis vape products. Nexus 2.0 improves upon commonly used diluents for cannabis vapor applications by extending stability, enhancing performance, and improving inhalation safety. This formulation utilizes phytol, a terpene found naturally in cannabis, along with other terpenes and components also found in cannabis, delivering a fully Native end-product.

“This is an important advance in the science and formulation of vapor products,” says Jeffrey C. Raber, Ph.D., founder and CEO of The Werc Shop. “To this point vape formulators have relied upon compounds like propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), and polyethylene glycol (PEG) as thinning agents, but these compounds can form harmful byproducts when heated. We are proud to be able to offer this technology to improve vape product consistency and safety.”

This patent is the newest addition to the burgeoning, global portfolio of intellectual property created by The Werc Shop. Other areas of coverage include TRUE TO PLANT cannabis terpene compositions for vaporization, tinctures, topicals and edibles and cannabis metabolomic profiling methods, cannabis extraction and processing methods, and the controlled metered dosing of cannabinoids. This solid IP foundation built upon terpene-based compositions which are key to driving the entourage effect powers many of the leading vape brand formulations in the market today.

Aleafia Health Announces New President of Clinic Operations

TORONTO, Feb. 15, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- PRESS RELEASE -- Aleafia Health Inc., has named private healthcare executive Keith White as the company’s new President of Clinic Operations. Most recently, White was The Oshawa Clinic’s chief operating officer. Oshawa, the largest of its kind in Canada, is a Greater Toronto Area multidisciplinary medical clinic network with over 500,000 unique patients. White also serves as the Chairman of the Lakeridge Health Foundation, a healthcare not-for-profit.

During his Oshawa tenure, White facilitated its exponential growth, including expanding from 45 physicians to over 130. Medical Marijuana Rules in Augusta, Maine Would Ban Caregivers From Residential Zones

AUGUSTA — Registered medical marijuana caregivers would have to obtain licenses from the city, have their indoor grow areas inspected by an electrician and, if they live in a zoning district that is primarily residential, move out and relocate to a nonresidential zone or stop growing for their patients within two years, under proposed local medical marijuana rules discussed by city councilors Thursday.

The rules include no provisions for adult use recreational marijuana sales, processing or growing, which means no sales of recreational marijuana would be allowed anywhere in Augusta.

City officials said a majority of councilors already made it clear, including in an informal straw poll in January, they do not want to allow any sales of marijuana in Augusta other than medical marijuana.

Florida's cannabis industry attracts female entrepreneurs - Cannabis News

"Women are drawn to this industry because we're caretakers at heart. When you know you have a product that can help someone, it's in our nature and in our blood to share that."

A few years ago, Stacey Pitts wouldn't have imagined herself being in the cannabis business.

It started with a conversation with her husband.

"He said, 'Hey, have you ever heard of CBD?' And I was like, 'No, what is it?' And he said it was a derivative of cannabis and I'm like, 'No, not interested,'" Pitts remembers.

The mother of two changed her mind after doing some research.

Regulatory Friction May Delay Louisiana Cannabis Crop Again

Louisiana patients who have been waiting years to access medical marijuana legalized in 2015 may have to wait longer as the LSU AgCenter and its grower continue to face regulatory hurdles from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture.

RELATED: Frustration, Few Timelines on Louisiana Medical Marijuana

The LSU AgCenter and its cannabis grower GB Sciences sent a letter Wednesday to the agriculture department's program director outlining what it called "a more complete accounting" of its effort to secure final approval to began growing cannabis in its main Baton Rouge facility.

Wednesday's letter signals that the LSU AgCenter and GB Sciences, which has invested more than $8 million in its facility and research, are growing increasingly frustrated with the ag department and Commissioner Mike Strain.
