As Mainers know, the road to marijuana legalization has been a road of changing legislation, prolonged results, and ultimately victory. Although the people of Maine voted to legalize recreational sales in Maine in 2016, it took until October 9th, 2020 until dispensaries were allowed by the state to actually begin recreational sales. Although the medicinal community has flourished during this time, this delay has been frustrating to say the least. But Mainers showed up strong, with 2020 generating $111 million in medical sales alone. There are currently 37 dispensaries both medicinal and recreational in Portland and surrounding areas. New York’s Growing Market Hosts NECANN
The 1st convention focused exclusively on the New York market!
New York lawmakers attempted to legalize recreational cannabis through the legislative process several times between 2018 and 2021, but disagreements over tax revenue allocation from cannabis sales prevented legislation from moving forward. The Cannabis Regulation and Taxation Act was included in the state budget proposal for 2021. Some members of the New York State Assembly objected to certain elements of the bill, with some preferring to pass their own legislation, the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act, outside of the governor’s office. The Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act was enacted by the New York State Assembly and Senate on March 30, 2021. NECANN cannot wait to come and celebrate this huge win with New York! Visit Vermont For A Cannabis Event You Don’t Want To Miss

Vermont celebrated a major victory on October 7, 2020, when Gov. Phil Scott announced that he would allow a bill to regulate and tax cannabis sales — to become law without his signature, following the successful legalization of cannabis possession and cultivation for adults 21 and older in 2018. Vermont became the 11th state to regulate adult-use cannabis sales (with more states on the way), and the second state to do it through legislation rather than a voter initiative. In the fall of 2022, retail sales are planned to commence. The legislature took extra steps in 2021 in the form of a bill that tightens social equity provisions by requiring regulators to decrease or eliminate licensing costs for applicants who have been negatively impacted by the enforcement of cannabis laws, was passed by the House and Senate. The measure also establishes a Cannabis Business Development Fund to assist applicants from under served communities. Today Burlington has a newborn cannabis market just waiting to blow up. With the approval of the Illinois Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act in 2019, Illinois became the first state in the U.S. to legalize recreational marijuana sales through legislation rather than voter initiatives. Vermont’s legislature allowed recreational usage but not sales (later legalizing sales after Illinois had already done so). Illinois is estimated to produce between $2 and $4 billion in annual income from recreational sales if it reaches full maturity. Illinois will also expunge an estimated 700,000 marijuana-related police records and court convictions in a staged manner expected to be finished by 2025, making it the first state in the country to do so. Take Hwy. 101 north 150 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge to Laytonville. Black Oak Ranch is 5 miles north of Laytonville on the west side of the highway. Look for the signs, the parking lot is adjacent to the highway.

From the Sacramento Area:

Take Hwy. 5 north to Williams, turn on Hwy. 20 West, follow all the way to Hwy. 101 North–go approximately 40 miles north to Laytonville. Black Oak Ranch is 5 miles north of Laytonville.

From the North Coast/Oregon:

In March of 2021 New York became the 15th State to legalize recreational cannabis through the passage of the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act. New York City is poised to become the retail epicenter of New York’s cannabis industry with the potential influx of several types of cannabis business, most notably retail dispensaries and on-site consumption sites.

On Tuesday, August 17th at 2pm EDT / 11am PDT, join New York City Council Member Keith Powers of New York City’s Council District 4 and Harris Bricken’s lead New York cannabis attorney Simon Malinowski as they discuss the cannabis industry’s potential impact on New York City during this FREE webinar.

Simon will cover the current status of the Cannabis Control Board and the Office of Cannabis Management in addition to the issuance of rules, regulations, and application procedures. This monthly online circle is offered to anyone over 21 who has legal access to the medicine of mind, body and spirit, Cannabis (often called Marijuana). This space holds sacred the plant and the wisdom She brings us. This space is not offered to diagnose, treat, or encourage anyone to go beyond their comfort zone.
Cannabis is a powerful spiritual teacher that has been with humanity for thousands of years. Due to the prohibition of this plant for almost 100 years, there have been many unhelpful attitudes professed about "Weed", and many people have had negative attitudes or experiences about or with Cannabis. While most of us have grown up thinking of "Pot" in relation to "party" or "stoner" culture, few have been inspired to commune in a sacred manner.
This monthly circle has been created to inspire a healthy, curious, sacred and healing relationship with the Cannabis Goddess (as Quynn sees her). The “Spirit” of Cannabis is available to help us in many ways, if we ask.
We begin by calling upon the Spirit of Cannabis to be with us as we approach a safe space in our Imagination/Spirit World. Your focus can be about anything that is real and needed for you at this time. If you choose to commune with CBD or THC, you can.*
Quynn shares her consistent drumming for 12-15 minutes to allow your dreaming/imaginative mind to come forth. The drumbeats also become your allies. Quynn offers a bit of guidance for anyone who has not yet "journeyed"/meditated or tuned in to a drum. You are guided back to your body by Quynn's voice.
After the drum stops, there is a few minutes for journaling, and optional sharing. We close with grounding and gratitude.
*There is no assumption or necessity for participants to consume THC or CBD during this time together. The Spirit of Cannabis can be called upon at any time, in any state of mind.

This series has a donation-based registration, with a portion of each month's proceeds being donated to Last Prisoner Project - a non-profit organization dedicated to cannabis criminal justice reform. Sessions are held on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 - 8:45 PM EST beginning on Wednesday, June 23rd. You may attend session by session as you wish. Tickets are offered on a sliding scale of $15-25. A lower ticket option of $15 helps keep the space available for those who have less to pay right now. If you are able, consider a higher ticket price as a gift toward keeping the space going for everyone.

Oh how I have loved seeing that unfold for people involved in these sessions over the past 6 months. If you are reading this event description, you may have even been invited by a friend who is already a part of this community. Welcome!!! They clearly think highly of you and feel that you may benefit from the safe, mindful, and loving space of this community.
For those of us who have been joining in these sessions, we have seen a lot of growth and change in our relationship with cannabis! We have also seen a lot of growth and change in our relationships with ourselves and each other. Being intentional in our cannabis use changes us. It brings greater balance into our minds and bodies.
During each session, we will explore our partnership with cannabis. Sessions include intention-setting, mindful partaking of cannabis, music, movement, guided meditation, teachings, and group sharing (for those who wish to share).
Come with curiosity and openness. Experience connection, healing, community, growth, relaxation, fun, laughter, ease, and grounding while you are held in a safe and supportive space. Leave with greater trust in yourself to use cannabis in the ways it best serves you.
Please note: During each session, we will take an intentional pause together to partake in cannabis. Participants are not required to partake in cannabis during the session and some may prefer to do so before the session especially for edibles. Please contact Nicole to talk about whether these sessions are right for you. Nicole is not responsible for any effects of cannabis use on participants or any of the actions taken by participants during sessions.
This series will be led by Nicole Robinson, a Mind-Body Practitioner who helps people connect with their bodies and minds for their healing and growth. 7:00 pm: Introduction by M4MM NJ Chapter President Jasi Edwards and Vice President Tiyahnn Bryant of speakers: Mayor Reed Gusciora, Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson, Cannabis Regulatory Commission Executive Director Jeff Brown, New Jersey State Attorney Austin Edwards, NJ Weedman Ed Forchion, and more that will speak about the current happenings in the cannabis and hemp industry.
7:15 pm: “Fireside Chats” for about 30-45 minutes with the speakers and/or their staff. Each fireside chat will have a chair for the speaker facing the seated guests whom they will be doing a Q & A with. Guests will have a choice of which chat they want to join based on their personal interests. The topics are as follows:
Group 1 – CRC; licensing, application process
Group 2 – Policy; current bills, expungement info,
Group 3 – Workforce development; ancillary businesses
Group 4 – Economic Development; zoning, support, impact zone funding allocation
Group 5 - Running a Cannabis Business; Q & A with NJ Weedman
8:00 pm or sundown: showing The Grass is Greener on the jumbo projection screen in the parking lot. Blow up sofas will be available from vendor (reserved for VIP guests) and city hall will be providing chairs. Fireside Chats will continue throughout the movie for those that wish to. Popcorn and water will be included.
9:20 - 10:00 pm: Following the movie there will be a quick announcement for instructions and a thank you for attending. Guests will be encouraged to stay; music will be playing until 10:00pm.
During this event C.U.M.M.A. Laws will be observed for open air smoking if guests were to bring their own cannabis to personally consume; though no vendors will be selling THC products as they are not licensed to do so.
Voter registration.
CDB and Hemp vendors will be invited, along with non-profit organizations that have re-entry programs, and retail and food vendors.
