Date: July, 23rd, 2021. Hour: 3:00pm to 6:00pm New York, Eastern Time. Digital event. Join us from all over the world. Welcome!
Scientific research on medicinal cannabis effects led directly to the discovery of a hitherto unknown biochemical communication system in the human body, the Endocannabinoid System, which plays a crucial role in regulating our physiology, mood, and everyday experience. The cannabis plant and its scientific studies in animals and humans have shown potential benefits in different conditions such as: epilepsy, neuroinflammation, multiple sclerosis, psychosis, PTSD, chronic pain, migraines, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, diabetes, different types of cancer, among others.
We are committed to empower continuous scientific research in medicinal cannabis, as well as educating the public in topics related to the endocannabinoid system, cannabis biotechnology, sample preparation, chromatography, mass spectrometry, cannabinomics, terpene profiling, quality control testing for public safety, contamination analysis (pesticides, residual solvents, microorganisms and heavy metals), genetics/genomics, regulations, legalization, scientific methods/standards and medicinal uses of cannabis. We strongly support information sharing that result in the development of new cannabis testing technologies, methods/protocols and standards.
LSF is a symposium where advanced research with up to date results is expected. Abstracts will be chose based on scientific quality and novelty of research either in basic or clinical cannabis science.
Topics include:
Cannabinoid/Endocannabinoid Research

Women have a once in a lifetime opportunity to build an industry from the ground up that is inclusive, diverse and just. We KNOW we have this opportunity and hundreds of thousands of us, around the world, are drawn to work with the mother plant. Yet, we are continuing to lose power in cannabis.

In 2017 women held 36% of C Suite positions in cannabis. Today, less than 8% of CEOs are women and only 38% of all positions in cannabis are held by women. Women are losing their power in cannabis...fast.

We know that statistically women have a higher rate of return on investment, lower turnover and a faster rate to profitability than their male counterparts - so why are we losing ground at such an alarming rate? This is one of many questions we will explore at the Leadership Summit: Power & Collaboration.

Currently, there seems to be a misguided approach from employers and insurers allowing access to medical cannabis based on outdated theories.

Blocking access due to an employees' ability to function at a "high" level when prescribed medical Cannabis as well as the idea that the research is not present to open up contracts to medical cannabis coverage due. In fact, medical cannabis is not about the high- but about the pro-active management of chronic pain and moving away from opioid use.

Join us to hear from Dr. Michael Verbora, a leading global expert and advocate on medical cannabis who will take us through the research and how increased access can help to reduce the burden on an employer's disability, opioid/drug use, and lower levels of input due to chronic conditions.

Through a review of extensive data and research, Dr. Michael Verbora will provide insights into the role that medical cannabis can take in the corporate world.

We are also pleased to include Green Shield Canada in this dynamic webinar session on their perspective both presently and what they predict will be the norm. As a national not-for-profit, Green Shield Canada has always taken a proactive approach to manage the well-being of their clients, so their input will be a valuable voice in this session.

This ground-breaking chat will be moderated by Jim Bates who's experience, and sense of humour will round out the presentation and ensure that the audience's questions on this hot topic are addressed by both panelists.

A must-attend for organizations and team leaders.

This is part of The Science of Excellence series.

The Business of Cannabis: Cultivating a Ninety-Million Dollar Market in the Nutmeg State
In June, the Hartford Business Journal will host The Business of Cannabis, a forum highlighting the opportunities and obstacles in the potential $90 million market in the Nutmeg State.
Connecticut marijuana sales fall somewhere between $50 million and $60 million a year at eighteen licensed, highly regulated dispensaries, and that's what the general assembly legalizing adult use marijuana which would instantly multiply sales several times and bring in perhaps $90 million annually in much needed tax revenue for the state.
This morning forum will focus on the business in this exciting, emerging industry that faces unique issues--- especially while the consumption of marijuana remains prohibited at the federal level.
This event will explore how Connecticut businesses can capitalize on this emerging industry while navigating the constantly evolving matrix of state compliance regulations.

About
The era of medicine is growing very fast and scientist are now discovering new possibilities of medicines and developing medical cannabis which highly uses the marijuana plant or chemicals in it to treat diseases which are long lasted in our body. Healthcare has already entered its next phase of rapid advancements. By using precision medicine technologies, genetic vulnerabilities to chronic and deadly diseases at the individual level can now be identified.

The marijuana plant carries more than 100 different chemicals called cannabinoids. Each one has a different impact on the body. Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) are the main chemicals used in medicine. The use and acceptance of medicinal cannabis continues to evolve. Cannabis and cannabinoid agents are widely used to alleviate symptoms to treat disease, but their efficacy for specific indications is not well established. For chronic pain, the analgesic effect remains unclear.

The purpose of this conference is to understand the use of medicinal cannabis in modern society, how the drug works from a pharmacological perspective and how this affects the provision of patient care. The goal is to unite healthcare professionals, doctors, professors, students to discuss on most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Medical Cannabis and Cannabidioland get more prepared for the challenges that lie ahead in 2021 and beyond!

In the pioneer edition of this Conference come join us in this enriching knowledge fest where experts will speak on new technologies, market dynamics perceptions and future of medicines. Let us bag the knowledge of medical cannabis and future aspects of it delivered by expertise in this conference Where healing, teaching and discovery come together.

The May 20, 2021 Legal Update will focus on the following prescient issues facing New Jersey employers and human resource professionals:
I. The Decriminalization of Marijuana and the Workplace
On February 22, 2021, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed into law the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory, Enforcement Assistance, and Marketplace Modernization Act (“CREAMMA”). Among other things, the 240-page measure legalizes the recreational use of marijuana for adults age 21 and older and places significant restrictions on companies doing business in New Jersey related to marijuana use and the workplace. Topics addressed will include, but not be limited to, the following topics:
Employee Protections (anti-discrimination, reasonable accommodations, off duty conduct)
Employer Rights (drug testing and drug free workplace, safety-sensitive positions)
“Workplace Impairment Recognition Experts”
Unresolved Issues and the new Cannabis Regulatory Commission

About
New York's Governor signed the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act of 2021 (MRTA) on March 31 2021 allowing adults 21 and older to use cannabis recreationally.

Social justice issues like racial inequality have shaken workforce laws across the country. The governor's office projects MRTA revenues of up to $350 million annually and creation of 30-60,000 jobs statewide. However, many sections of the MRTA, including employment related sections of the law, are effective immediately.

Cannabis is currently one of the fastest-growing industries in Canada!

With the legalization and commercialization of Cannabis, the industry has seen an uprise in career and business opportunities.

The possibilities of Cannabis extend to a wide range, including its benefits in the medicine, recreational, cosmetic, and health and wellness sectors. However, employers are struggling to find skilled workers in the job market!

At NACPT, we are on a mission to bridge this lack of qualified candidates and the booming career opportunities through specific career, networking and informative events.

The event begins with an information session by industry experts, professors and professional consultants working with cannabis regulatory agencies and industry leaders. Following this all attendees can interact and network with the speakers and fellow attendees on cannabis related topics and discuss potential career and business opportunities.

This session also covers the Health Canada’s requirements for hiring employees in the cannabis industry as well as certifications and educational qualifications the cannabis industry is looking for in the employers.

NACPT Pharma College is an industry recognized career college that works in affiliation with major cannabis and health associations. See our affiliates here. The career events also give you the scope of networking with these associations.

Since 2014 NECANN has been creating resource hubs for the rapidly expanding Cannabis industry. Events where businesses, entrepreneurs, investors, educators, patients, advocates, and consumers can connect, learn, and grow. We feel that individually created conventions focused on each local market’s needs and opportunities are a superior alternative to the generic national canna-convention franchises found everywhere. Rather than focusing on what the Cannabis Industry can do for us, NECANN takes a collaborative approach to each of our conventions that has resulted in consistently high ROI for exhibitors, sponsors, attendees, and the local cannabis market as a whole, facilitating growth for all. NECANN events are unique in the cannabis space in several ways: (1) Rather than waiting until the battle for cannabis normalization is won before launching a convention in a new market, we search out potential markets that need help and join the fight. (2) As part of that commitment, we donate 10% of the exhibit floor booth space at each convention to local cannabis advocacy groups and non-profits. (3) Even after legalization, our events continue to serve not just the B2B communities, but patients, caregivers, and recreational consumers as well. Every single facet of the industry is represented as our events, including: Accounting, Insurance, Marketing, Banking, Payment Processing, Botanicals, Patient Advocacy, Diversity & Inclusion, Storage, Packaging, Dosing Equipment, Patient Education, Medical Experts, Displays & Fixtures, Grow Lights, Hemp Industry , Hydroponics & Cultivation Products, Infused Products, Inventory Tracking, Legal Resources, Licensing Services, Medical Resources, Smoking, vaping, and dabbing accessories, POS & Management Software, Private Equity & Investment Resources, Training & Education, Security Services & Equipment, Testing & Lab Services, Tinctures, Salves, & Topicals. If you see one of us at one of our conventions, please feel free to introduce yourself and share your thoughts on what you would like to see at the next one! If you are an cannabis-related advocacy group or non-profit in a market we host a convention and would like to be considered for a donated booth, please email [email protected] with an introduction and links to your organization.

This course is an essential training tool that provides a thorough overview of valuation principles which lays an essential foundation for financial professionals and advisors to provide outstanding services to their clients as it pertains to cannabis.

The general principles of valuing enterprises also apply to a cannabis company. There are caveats to valuing a cannabis business, such as regulatory and tax attributes of the industry that considerably complicates the valuation of a cannabis-related enterprise. This course discusses unique valuation considerations for cannabis-related appraisals. Expanding upon this principle, the business advisor must be prepared to wear multiple hats, whether it is purely tax, accounting, or valuation; business owners now expect counsel on how to improve the business enterprise’s performances by shaving costs, improving revenues, minimization of tax, and increasing company value. This course also explains the unique principles of this fast–rising industry, which will include mandatory “annual” valuations that will be required, due to tax implications.

How You Will Benefit
After completing this course, attendees will be able to:

Describe the basic knowledge and terminology that is essential to the cannabis industry
List the drivers of federal taxation concerning cannabis
Identify the most prominent tax court cases driving the cannabis industry
Utilize valuation approaches specific to cannabis and increase your client base
Describe the importance of intellectual property as it pertains to cannabis valuation and increase your services and profits
